  • GROSS DESCRIPTION

    The exhibit displays enlarged distorted thyroid occupied by malignant lesion with infiltrative border. The lesion show pale tan solid surface. No recognizable normal thyroid parenchyma present.

  • HISTOPATHOLOGY DESCRIPTION

    Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma shows tumour cells with invasive growth pattern. The cells are marked nuclear pleomorphism. Extensive tumor necrosis and high mitotic activity also noted.

  • GROSS DESCRIPTION

    The exhibit displays enlarged and distorted thyroid glands showing diffuse heterogenous nodularity, with variable size of nodules partly separated by incomplete fibrous septae.

  • HISTOPATHOLOGY DESCRIPTION

    The thyroid shows mutiple nodule separated by incomplete septae. The nodules are composed of varying size of thyroid follicles. They are lined by flat to cuboidal epithelium. Colloid is noted within the follicles.

    The exhibit is a total thyroidectomy specimen. It shows an asymmetrical enlargement of the thyroid lobes. The cut section displays multiple nodules of varying sizes containing colloids.

  • HISTOPATHOLOGY DESCRIPTION

    The section shows multiple nodules containing thyroid follicles of varying sizes, containing colloids. No features of malignancy are seen.

    Spesimen ini merupakan kelenjar tiroid, iaitu sejenis kelenjar di leher yang menghasilkan hormon yang mengawal banyak fungsi badan. Kelenjar tiroid yang membesar dipanggil goiter/beguk.

    Salah satu jenis goiter ialah goiter multinodular, di mana tiroid yang membesar akan mempunyai benjolan (nodul) pelbagai saiz dan mengandungi koloid di dalamnya. Kebanyakan goiter multinodular tidak menyebabkan gejala kecuali jika saiz terlalu besar yang boleh menyebabkan ketidakselesaan kepada pesakit.

    The exhibit displays enlarged and distorted thyroid gland. There is presence of cystically dilated follicle. The other adjacent thyroid parenchyma display diffuse heterogenous nodularity, with some nodule appear dominant and partly surrounded by fibrous septae. Areas of calcification appreciated.

  • HISTOPATHOLOGY DESCRIPTION

    The thyroid shows mutiple nodule composed of varying size of thyroid follicles. The nodules are surrounded by incomplete fibrous capsule of variable thickness. All the follicles are lined by flattened, inactive follicular cells. Degenerative changes composed of scarring and calcification are seen.

Pathology of the endocrine organ includes a numbers of non neoplastic disorder that commonly raised a concern as patient may presented with mass lesion, for example multinodular goitre and neoplasm.
